Before you get on the flight, let's get to know Vietnam first.
Saigon is loud, warm and generous. Coffee is strong and iced, the rivers of motorbikes part around you if you simply keep walking, and dinner is best eaten on a small plastic stool.
Come a day or two early if you can. Wander District 1 in the morning, take a boat on the Mekong, and let someone talk you into a second bowl of phở.

Deluxe rooms start from 4,400,000 VND per night (≈ $170 USD) for two guests, breakfast included.

We recommend staying in District 1. Look for hotels along:

- Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street
- Bến Nghé Ward
Fly into Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport (SGN). District 1 is roughly 30–45 minutes away by taxi or Grab, depending on traffic.
Grab is the easiest way to travel — cars and motorbikes, paid by card or cash. Vinasun and Mai Linh taxis are reliable metered options.
Saigon is tropical and warm all year, typically 26–34°C. The dry season runs December to April; from May to November expect short afternoon showers.
The currency is the Vietnamese đồng (VND). Cards are accepted at hotels and restaurants; carry some cash for markets, cafés and street food. ATMs are easy to find.
